Jacksonville University To Host Science, Math & Engineering Day March 29
Who/What: Jacksonville University hosts top science and math students from First Coast high schools on Thursday, March 29, at the university’s 22nd annual Science, Math and Engineering Day competition.
When: Thursday, March 29. The event begins with an 8:15 a.m. welcome ceremony and concludes at 1 p.m. with an awards ceremony in Terry Concert Hall.
Where: Jacksonville University (events throughout campus); 2800 University Blvd. N.
Description: Between 9 a.m. and noon, students will take written tests and compete in practical exercises. Competitions will involve biology, chemistry, physics, engineering and computer programming.
There will be classic competitions in chemistry and engineering, as well as interdisciplinary elements, such as the Brain Brawl. The Chemathon, sponsored by the Jacksonville section of the American Chemical Society, will again be a part of this year’s team chemistry competition. All members of the first-place teams in each competition will receive a $2,500 scholarship to Jacksonville University.
